Stephen King, an author I never imagined I’d pick up due to his typical writing genre that gives me the creeps. When I stumbled upon his departure into historical fiction, it felt like an unexpected yet enticing invitation. Unfamiliar with King’s writing style, I found myself pleasantly surprised. If he continues to explore genres beyond his usual repertoire, I would certainly be inclined to give his work another chance.
The narrative delves into a recent past, a realm King knows intimately, where Jake Epping is consumed by the singular goal: preventing a murder. With a lifetime ahead of him to accomplish this feat, is it worth it? Well, I think the book was. Maybe I’ll be back too.
