It’s been a long time since I finished a book this fast. After enjoying War and Peace, it was a surprise to recall what’s it is like to read a book where I really felt at home. I know that I said that War and Peace felt at home. In retrospect, my expectations for how hard it was going to be were set too high, that’s not to say it was easy. By contrast, I dove right into the action, the people, the places, and events of the later portions of World War Two without gusto.
