John Adams: A Man for All Seasons

By: David McCullough
Narrated by: Nelson Runger
Length: 29 hrs and 54 mins

This is the compelling tale of a man who is dedicated to an idea embodied by a group of people that seek freedom and the pursuit of happiness. His amazing dedication describes him as a chief architect of the Declaration of Independence, the head of the revolutionary war department, and the man trusted with the hope of thousands as an advocate to the kings and courts across the sea.

His description as a man who loved his family and despite his drive and demands made them first in his life, is truly amazing.

I think one of the items I found most interesting was that although he reached the presidency of the United States, he often considered his ambassadorship to the court of St. James to be the penultimate achievement. I also found the tete a tete between the Anglican Sovereign and the Chief Architect of the Rebellion to be heartwarming and cathartic.

May we treat those with whom we previously fought against with honor and respect.
